Upstate Pride is back and prouder than ever. All month long, GVL will be rocking rainbows and celebrating the LGBTQ+ community. If you want to keep up with all the pride around the Upstate this month, we’ve got the rundown on everything you need to know.

Black Pride is an event hosted by Upstate Pride, a nonprofit organization that supports LGBTQ+ people. The annual, week-long event, taking place Sun., June 19-Sun., June 26, works towards that mission by advocating locally to provide leadership in the LGBTQ community.

Events

  • Networking with the LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce | Wed., June 22 | 6-8 p.m. | Golden Brown & Delicious, 147 Welborn St. | $10 | Join the Upstate LGBT Chamber of Commerce and Black Pride to celebrate LGBT Pride in business –- registration is required.
  • Black Pride Unity March & Festival | Sat., June 25 | 11 a.m.-5 p.m. | S. Main St. | Free entry | This family-friendly event features live performances, speakers, vendors, food, and music.
  • Annual Dance Concert | Sun., June 26 | 7 p.m. | Gunter Theater at the Peace Center | $12+ | Finish the week with performances from Vaughn Newman Dance + ZAKI West African Drum & Dance Ensemble.

In addition to Black Pride Week, there are other Upstate Pride events taking place to celebrate the local LGBTQ+ community.

How to get involved

We love a party, but Pride is also prime time to give back. Celebrate by volunteering with or donating to Pridelink, which provides health and wellness services, social support spaces, and connection to critical resources for the LGBTQ+ community in the Upstate.
