It’s time we bring a different Main St. into the conversation – a huge development is in the works at the corner of Main St. + E Curtis St. in downtown Simpsonville. Think beer garden, outdoor patio, and Sidewall Pizza.

The retail + restaurant development is called Burdette Central, named after the historic Burdette Hardware building that it’s transforming. Construction starts in 90 days.

The building’s current tenants will stay put, and the 27,000 sq. ft. hub will add a Sidewall Pizza (in addition to the new location planned for Five Forks), Kaffeine Coffee Shop and Roastery, and five more restaurant or retail tenants.

Sidewall Pizza will have a separate 1,800 sq. ft. building with a fully-enclosed patio and green space, and there will be plenty of parking with access from E. Curtis St. We noticed space for a new lot behind the building being cleared this weekend.

The development is still seeking tenants: one for a restaurant space facing E. Curtis, a small shipping container space that faces the beer garden, and a Main St. storefront. The currently-unoccupied second floor will potentially serve as office space.

Burdette Central’s developers (who are also behind the Gather GVL shipping container food hall coming to the West End) say they hope this is only the beginning of Simpsonville’s renaissance. Feedback on our Facebook + Instagram was overwhelmingly positive – we’re excited, too.
