#BucketDish - Whiskey Sour at Donna Chang’s

Going to Athens, Georgia this summer? Make a stop at Donna Chang’s in the Five Points neighborhood and order this: a red wine topped whiskey sour.

Sometimes called a New York Sour, this drink was a dazzling sip from the glass with pinot noir up front followed by the classic whiskey libation. The wine adds a quirky depth to the lemony drink (think stripped-down sangria). Knock back two of these and nosh on farm-to-table Chinese food at this fantastic modern concept (hello… we need this in GVL).

Wanna try this cocktail at home? It’s easily doable. Shake 2 ounces of whiskey (I used Six & Twenty Old Money) with 1 ounce of fresh lemon juice and 1 ounce of simple syrup with ice for 30 seconds. Strain into a glass and top with red wine by slowly pouring it over the back of a spoon held just over the cocktail’s surface. Ombre nirvana.
