Do I get tired of pumpkin flavored everything this time of year? Yes. So it was really a standout when this pumpkin danish crashed into my world on a trip to Rock Hill last week. I was en route between cider tasting in York, S.C. and restaurant scouting in Charlotte and a cup of coffee was in order. I had heard of this French bakery with several locations in NC but wanted to take a moment to see downtown Rock Hill too. What a treat with easy free parking, lots of small-town things to do and Winthrop is a beautiful campus to drive by.

Amelie’s is 10 years old this year and wow do they have a deft pastry hand. Not only was this cream cheese pumpkin (with pepitas) danish utterly noshable, but everything I tried including an almond flour teacake and magically flaky sugar-laden palmiers impressed. When you find yourself near an Amelie’s, it’s worth a detour and for sure your dining dollar. Fall is for baked goods, I simply can’t help myself.
