BMW Manufacturing was the largest US automotive exporter by value in 2022, marking the ninth straight year the German automotive company leads the nation in exports.

We’re breaking down the accomplishment by the numbers:

  • 416,301 | Total BMW Sports Activity Vehicles and Coupes produced by Plant Spartanburg in 2022 (the second-highest production total in the plant’s history)
  • $9.6 billion | Total export value for those 416,301 vehicles
  • 60%+ | Percentage of Plant Spartanburg X models that were sold out of all purchased BMW vehicles in the US in 2022
  • 16.6% | Percentage of vehicles that were plug-in hybrid vehicles (69,200 total)

Things haven’t slowed down in 2023: Production on the 2024 BMW X5 and X6 starts in April.
