DYK - 98,111 students (ages ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade) are enrolled in after-school programs in S.C.?
Something we recently learned from a friend with a toddler and another baby on the way: Good after-school programs for kids are like gold to working moms + dads.
We collaborated with Kidding Around Greenville to round up 4 after-school care programs for children in Greenville County that we wish we could go to (especially if nap time is included).

Bonus: A few other suggestions from our readers:
- An option for after-school care for Spartanburg readers. Thanks to Michelle P. for sharing this with us.
- Mosaic Educational and Arts program: it’s an after-school program for students K-8 whose second language is English and who, without Mosaic, would be unable to attend a similar program. Mosaic also offers a high school I internship program so that students can learn job skills, soft skills, and prepare for college. Held at Aldersgate UMC - 7 Shannon Drive 29615. Thanks, Kristin D. for sharing.
- The Pavilion with Greenville Rec has a fantastic after school program and summer camp! They offer pick up from multiple schools.
The problem is of course that afterschool is costly and not all families can afford it. But after-school keeps kids safe, helps working families and inspires learning. Also, children who participate in afterschool have better school-day attendance and better school-day behavior! Greenville City Rec has some awesome more affordable programs, (Bobby Pearse Community Center) and Greenville County’s Community Centers, like Brutontown. Thanks to Cathy S. for sharing this.- Sports Club Kids offers bus pickup at select elementary and middle schools, homework help, a snack, and three choice periods that include arts and crafts, sports (tennis, swimming, and dodgeball, to name a few), board games, and cooking.
