Sandi Morris, 2016 pole vault silver medalist, was introduced to pole vaulting by a Greenville High School track + field coach. She cleared 10 feet as a sophomore. Today, she holds the U.S. Women’s Outdoor Pole Vault Record at 16 ft., 5 in., which she broke in September during a Brussels competition.

After graduating from Greenville High in 2010, she attended UNC – Chapel Hill before transferring to the University of Arkansas, where she set a Collegiate Outdoor Record + won a NCAA championship.

After college, she competed in the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships and signed a contract with Nike. She went on the World Championships, before heading to the Olympic Trials, then the Olympics. (It was a big year.) In Rio, she won a silver medal with a 15 ft., 11 in. jump.

Now, she’s returning home, for her first Greenville competition since high school + we’re invited. 👏 Tonight, fifteen elite athlete will compete in vaulting + long jump on Main St. during the Liberty Bridge Jump-Off, hosted by the American Track Leauge (ATL) and the Greenville Track Club.

The event is free + there will be food, live music, and an opportunity to meet the athletes. (Pro tip: Free parking is available at County Square.)
