Breakwater + American Grocery Restaurants closed last week

In just a week, two mainstay West End restaurants closed their doors. Both credited high downtown rent prices & staffing issues.

American Grocery Restaurant
Needless to say, we’ll miss AGR’s House Made Charcuterie board, Sommelier wine pairing, and killer happy hour.

The good news? They’re behind the relatively-new speakeasy, Vaultand Vator at 655 S. Main St., so their Greenville legacy lives on. (Pro-tip: Try the Don’t Fear the Reaper cocktail – Blanco tequila, carolinareaper tincture, aperol, grapefruit sherbet, lime, honey, simple syrup).

Breakwater Greenville
Breakwater’s original location is in Beaufort, and owners Gary and Donna Long opened in Greenville almost five years ago. This isn’t their first time closing their doors. On July 23rd, 2016, they closed, but opened up four months later “after not being able to find a tenant to take over the lease.”
Word is, the new tenants will also be a restaurant concept, but no other details have been announced. What do you hope it will be?
