Will Greenville get a Veterans Park?

As you’ve probably heard by now, a city park is planned near the West End, off the Swamp Rabbit Trail. And, with the future redevelopment of County Square, the Veterans Memorial, erected in 1996, will be moved.

And, worlds collide. City Park could also be home to a proposed Veterans Park, says the study committee, taking the place of the current memorial.

⛏ Groundbreaking for the new park could be as early as spring 2018.

💰 $2 million per year (for 10 years) of hospitality tax money will fund public improvements for the park. (Potentially, including the memorial.)

The memorial was dedicated to veterans in 1996 and erected by the Greenville County Veterans Affairs department to honor those who fought in WW I & II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, among others.

Here’s to history being honored in new ways.
