Partner Spotlight: Testing out your green thumb

There’s nothing better than fresh fruits and vegetables in the summertime, which are easy to come by, thanks to the TD Saturday Market, TR Farmers Market, and other local produce markets (how lucky are we??). But another way to get fresh produce (and save money) is to try out your green thumb with these beginner plants:

Carrots: Seeds can be planted in deep, loose soil during spring or late summer when the climate is cooler.

Tomatoes: Tomatoes are super easy to grow as long as they have a sunny, warm spot and they will last until the first frost. Stake plants to keep them from flopping over.

Peppers: Peppers are easiest to grow from small “starter plants.” You’re probably going to need to put some kind of support around it to keep it growing upright.

P.S. According to one study, people who ate 8 or more servings of fruits/veggies per day were 30% less likely to have a stroke or heart attack.
