This fall, over 100 business leaders from Greenville and Spartanburg will be making the trek up I-85 to Raleigh and Durham, NC in hopes of bringing back ideas on how to advance the Upstate as an economic powerhouse.

What’s the occasion? The Intercommunity Leadership Visit, which is being sponsored by Spartanburg’s Johnson Development Associates and Greenville’s Hughes Development Corp. and will take place September 27 – 30.

Why Raleigh-Durham? The region has seen tremendous growth over the last decade and even more so in the last year. Raleigh-Durham has seen $3.3 billion in highway infrastructure investment, $3.2 billion in new capital investments and more than 30,000 new jobs announced just in 2016 (according to GoUpstate). The two cities have teamed up on multiple projects over the years, and most notably, the Research Triangle Park which is the largest research park in the country.

You could say that Greenville is on a similar growth pattern, and with the combined force of Spartanburg, who knows what we’ll be able to achieve. What was Batman without Robin anyway?
