We all find ourselves in Columbia and JJ Tea House is a must stop. Yes, it’s likely you’ll wait in line (and yes it’s totally worth it). The dining room at midday is a fun mix of students, professors and politicians all chowing down on fast-casual Asian street food.

A separate counter churns out bubble tea orders; the drink menu alone is enormous. Rice dishes and noodles and noodles soups are spot on (try the popcorn chicken over rice), but the star of this menu is the Spicy Pork Wonton. I haven’t inhaled dumplings like this since I lived on the west coast. These perfect pockets of goodness are melty without being mushy, chewy without being under-cooked. The pork filling is perfectly seasoned and they are just as good in a takeout container as on a plate, pungently sauced.

Can we woo JJ Tea House to the GVL? Oh goodness I hope so, but until that day I plan a stop every trip I make to Cola.
