...participate in our new Saving Cents series

We know talking about money can get ...awkward. We want to talk about it, anyway.

So, we’re launching Saving Cents: a new series where we publish anonymous peeks into locals’ personal finance habits, daily spending, and long-term savings goals, documented over the course of one week, in partnership with South State Bank.

TL;DR: We want you to track your spending for 7 days and then tell us where your money went. Need no more convincing? Learn more – or if you’re already recording your spending – submit here.

Why track your spending and publish it for a bunch of strangers to see? Glad you asked. Our series is a great starting point to see what you spend your money on, so you can start a budget, hold yourself accountable for your financial habits, or learn how to better save for that house or vacation you’ve been eyeing.

Did we mention we won’t publish your name? You’ve got nothing to lose. Let’s do this.

I’ll be taking the plunge with you starting next week and documenting my daily spending for 7 days for my own purposes – a.k.a. to see how many more trips I can squeeze into the rest of the year.

And shoutout to South State Bank’s Advice Center for helping me get a head start on sorting out my finances in my quickly-approaching 28th year. Buying a house seems a little less complicated with their help. Bless up.
