South Carolina’s tourism industry is booming

Upstate Business Journal
Spartanburg county hosted the 2017 S.C. Governor’s Conference on Tourism and Travel for the first time since 2007 this past Wednesday. State officials say tourism is worth $20.2 billion to the Palmetto State and it’s estimated that 1 out of every 10 jobs is supported by the industry.

With an increase in international visitor spending and capital investment this past year (12.5% and 25% respectively), South Carolina officials feel we’re ramping up for another “banner” year in 2017.

Spartanburg reaped the benefits of a $17.4 million economic impact this past year, which was boosted by youth sports events and the NFL Carolina Panthers training camp (est. at a $13.1 million impact alone).

Cheers to you, Carolina Panthers.
