Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery owners, Mary Walsh and Jacqueline Oliver were just recently awarded the 2017 South Carolina Female Small Business Person of the Year award. High five for that one ladies ✋🏼.

The cafe and grocery is in an area that was once considered a “food desert”, meaning that the people living in the surrounding area (think San Souci and other neighborhoods off of Pete Hollis Blvd.) did not have access to fresh and healthy foods within a two mile radius.

Now, the Swamp Rabbit Grocery is visiting at least four local farms monthly, employing over 50 people, and is even working to expand their operation to offer a butchery, serving locally sourced meats.

Big round of applause to our local farmers, small business owners, and the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery for their award.
