Sister, Sister

Across the pond (and about 275 miles more) the town of Kortrijk, Belgium has a very special relationship with our very own city. Kortrijk (pronounced “court-ray”), is a medium-sized Belgian town with a history in textiles and a future in business, sound familiar? They even have a pedestrian bridge that looks over a central river in their downtown. 👯

A 16-person delegation from Kortrijk recently explored Greenville with the help of our Mayor and a few VIGs (Very Important Greenvillians). They took in the sights downtown and experienced the awesomeness that is Artisphere. The relationship helps bolster Greenville’s international relations and promotes global citizenship.

A Kortrijk delegate commented on the growth she’s seen from Greenville since the sisterhood began in 1990, “I find it remarkable and admirable what has been achieved in Greenville.” Right on, Kortrijk, right on.
