Sanford & Paul introduce Obamacare replacement plan

Greenville News
South Carolina representative, Mark Sanford and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul introduced the House’s plan to replace the Affordable Healthcare Act (a.k.a Obamacare) this past Wednesday.

The entire plan isn’t getting the boot, though.

The proposal includes two popular aspects from the Affordable Care Act:

  1. Companies would still have to provide insurance to people with pre-existing conditions.

  2. Individuals under age 26 could stay on parents’ health plans.

Under the proposed plan, small business owners would be able to create their own insurance pools as alternatives to employer health insurance, while offering tax credits to those who use Health Savings Accounts.

Roughly forty conservative lawmakers have officially endorsed the legislation, but The Freedom Caucus requires 80% of the membership to vote in favor before they will back it.

Stanford and Paul’s next step is coming up with a companion bill to introduce to the House.
