UofSC economists recently made some predictions about our state’s economy + growth, and things are looking really good for working South Carolinians.

Here are the stats in our state:

  • Unemployment rate is at 3.9% – the lowest since 2000
  • Individual income is predicted to increase 4.3% in 2018
  • 2.1% boost in job creation is expected for next year
  • In Greenville, employment rose 0.7% in the past year

What does that mean for workers? Employers must consider providing incentives + benefits to recruit and maintain employees.

S.C.’s biggest challenge will be labor availability but Greenville has already started investing in its workforce. Clemson and Greenville Tech are leading the way by partnering with major companies with Upstate locations to create advanced manufacturing educational centers.
