Celebrating MLK Day yesterday got us thinking – how far has S.C. come in bridging the gap between races? Here’s where our state stands (out of 50 states + D.C.) according to a WalletHub study examining racial gaps in poverty, education, health + employment.

💵 2nd in amount of progress in reducing the poverty gap, behind #1, Mississippi

🏡 2nd in lowest racial gap of home ownership, behind #1, D.C.

🗣 19th in social engagement including the number of participating voters, veterans + adult population on parole

💲 22nd in the employment + wealth gap between blacks + whites – including participation, poverty and ownership of businesses

👥 34th in racial integration

🎓 44th in the racial education gap
