Earlier this week, Greenville Technical College + Prisma Health broke ground on the future Prisma Health Center for Health & Life Sciences on the college’s Barton Campus (South Pleasantburg Drive).
Greenville Technical College President Dr. Keith Miller, in the company of Governor Henry McMaster and community + Prisma Health leaders, describes the new center as a “dynamic learning commons,” as it will be a hub in the heart of campus surrounded by the college’s library, student center, and more.
“I can foresee the future every time I come to this technical college… You can see the future written everywhere, particularly on the faces of these students… this place is a gold mine,” said Gov. Henry McMaster.

Let’s take a look at the center by the numbers:

- $1.5 million: Donation amount from Prisma Health (No. 1 employer of Greenville Tech graduates)
- 12: Years of planning
- 125,000: Center’s square footage

- 500+: Health and science graduates to be served annually
Outside, the building (facing South Pleasantburg Drive) will don glass cutouts + the Prisma Health brand. Inside, there will be features like:
- Suites for medical imaging, ultrasound, and more
- An Anamotage lab (think: virtual dissection tables)
- Conversation rooms
- Study carrels
- Outside seating
The center, to be constructed by Harper General Contractors , will kick start a campus transformation, with renovations of the Engineering Technologies and University Transfer facilities — two of the campus’ oldest facilities — and additional classrooms + labs in the Nursing building after the Prisma Health Center for Health & Life Sciences is open.
