Reimagining Greenville’s North entrance

Poinsett Highway (Greenville’s entrance from the north) used to be a booming industrial hub for Greenville’s textile community, but now the buildings reflect ghosts of our manufacturing past instead of Greenville’s bright future.

Enter the Poinsett Revitalization Project: a $2.5 million project to improve streets, widen sidewalks, and add decorative lights + landscaping. The goal is to improve communities like Brutontown, Poe Mill and Washington Heights, from Shaw Street to Furman Hall Road (from the Radio Room to Cherrydale).

Cheers to Greenco Bev. Company, one of South Carolina’s largest beer distributors, for kicking off the revitalization by opening its headquarters on Furman Hall Road (where Goodwill used to be) + the company was able to take advantage of Greenville’s Facade Improvement Program.

Bonus: We just heard that a Spinx holding company recently bought the former Orders Mattress Company location: 131,000 sq ft building on 4.88 acres at the corner of Rutherford and Shaw St. We’ll keep you updated as we hear of any developments. 👍
