Sunday was no typical day at the Greenville Zoo. An orangutan, Kumar (one of two, and the only male), made a hole in the top of his enclosure and climbed out.

Employees moved guests to safe areas, such as the gift shop, until he was moved back into the enclosure with a temporary repair. Locks were used to close up the hole in the fence.

The orangutan exhibit will be closed until permanent repairs are made. Nobody was harmed during the escape.

A stressful day for the Greenville Zoo, a good day for Kumar. Thanks to a trained staff for keeping visitors safe.
