There’s a new barbecue spot in town: Meet City Barbeque
Texas, Carolina, Kansas City, they do it all. | Photo by GVLtoday
There’s a new barbecue joint in town and it’s opening at 1206 Woodruff Road on Monday, Jan. 15. City Barbeque serves “American” barbecue (aka the best of every region).
We got a sneak peek of the space and an early taste of the menu.
The meats
This location has three smokers on site that are never turned off and use local hickory wood. They’re smoking 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The result is pulled pork, beef brisket, smoked turkey, pulled chicken, sausages, chicken, and more.
Pro tip: Study the sauce chart above the drink station to pair your meats perfectly with one of the six options.
The sides
City Editor Danielle here. A wise friend once told me you must have #ThreeSidesMinimum when ordering barbecue. City Barbeque sets you up to successfully complete that mission with a stacked lineup of favorite side options.
We tried the fresh cut fries, the creamy slaw, and the corn pudding.

Gannett, the paper’s parent company, did not say why or where the paper was moving. (The Post and Courier Greenville)

Irashiai Sushi Pub will move from its location at 115 Pelham Rd. to 723 Congaree Rd. — the former home of Brass Monkey — in March. Until then, the Pelham Road location will continue serving along with its second location at 1625 Woodruff Rd. (The Post and Courier Greenville)

Roll Tide?
Asked: Should Dabo Swinney coach the Alabama Crimson Tide?
Should he stay or should he go? | Photo via Creative Commons
Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney’s name is floating around as a possible candidate for Alabama’s head coaching job after Nick Saban announced his retirement after 17 seasons.
Swinney was a wide receiver at Bama from 1990 to 1992 + won a National Championship in ’92 as a player. Then, he was on the The Tide’s coaching staff from 1993 to 2000 before joining Clemson’s staff in 2003.
We all know what happened next:
Two National Championships (2016 + 2018) against Alabama
Workout gear from Aesthetic Built’s collection, which features durable, cutting-edge fabric technologies without compromising aesthetic appeal. We love this scuba oversized hoodie.
I’ll be honest. I initially wasn’t sure about another barbecue joint, because we already have so many great ones. However, I really enjoyed every bite at City Barbeque (that corn pudding was some of the best I’ve ever had), and I will be back to try more.
