New roads!

It is expected that both Anderson and Greenville will see an additional $4M per year for county road work, according to highway engineering officials. This is in addition to the new money that will go into state projects ($630M) once the 12 cents per gallon gas tax is in place. However, it will still be up to the Department of Transportation to decide on how much of those funds will be used per county. (We’re counting on you, DOT. 🙏 )

It’s expected the C-Fund Committee (a.k.a the legislative group focused around transportation) will benefit by more than $2.6M per year.

As the new gas tax is implemented, new money will be phased in over a three year period which will increase Greenville’s funding from about $5.2M to $7.8M. Cha-Ching! 💸
