In case you missed it, it’s March, which means football’s out, basketball’s in, and baseball’s something you remember hearing about, but don’t really care about until April.

During the NCAA Selection Show last night, 36 basketball teams were chosen to compete in the Division 1 Men’s Basketball tournament deemed “March Madness.”

For the TB;DW (Too Boring, Didn’t Watch):

  • 36 teams were chosen to compete as “at-large” bids
  • 32 teams made it automatically by winning their conference tournament championship
  • That’s 68 total teams for those of you keeping count
  • For the South Carolina natives - the Gamecocks are out; Clemson’s in and Charleston made it through by winning the Colonial Conference
  • For the North Carolina natives: The usual’s are back, including Duke, UNC, NC State, Davidson, UNCG, and North Carolina Central

Now what? You need to join our bracket challenge by clicking here. Here’s what you need to know:

  1. The deadline for submitting brackets is March 15, so sign up and fill out those brackets quick.
  2. We’ll be competing against our sister brands (COLAtoday, AVLtoday, and CHStoday) – it’s on like Donkey Kong, people.
  3. We’re giving away $100 bucks to the best overall bracket and $50 to the best bracket in each of the other three cities.
