Last call for late nights

Pour one out for 6 a.m. last-calls.

An ordinance was passed by Greenville County Council earlier this week that will change the closing time for *all* bars to 2 a.m.

The ordinance will turn into a law starting March 1 and will require private or nonprofit clubs, hotel room-service, bars, restaurants and nightclubs (that currently are able to serve alcohol until 6 a.m.) to shut down at 2 a.m.

The college kid within you is probably asking, “But whyyyy?” This has been on the minds of a lot of Greenvillians for a long time. Plus, Greenville County Sheriff’s Office tracked 911 calls between 2 and 6 a.m. and basically everyone decided that the best way to decrease violence during that time is to enforce an earlier closing time for the ~20 bars that are open way late.
