We have compiled a list of ten of the largest employers in our city to give you insider information, from the Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC).

Ranging from international giants to local education + government, we are proud of how much Greenville has grown + developed over the years.

Let’s take it from the top.

Prisma Health

Health Services | 15,941 employees

Formerly the Greenville Health System, Prisma Health Upstate came in at no. 1 for largest employers.Overall, between Prisma Health Upstate + Midlands, the company has 32,000 employees.

Greenville County Schools

Public Education | 10,095 employees

The Greenville County School System employs over 10,000 employees across a variety of the county’s elementary, middle + high schools, career centers + more.

Michelin North America

Headquarters – research + development, manufacturing | 7,120 employees

Headquartered in France with their North American headquarters right here in Greenville, Michelin sells the most tires across the world. We feel pretty special to be home to their North American HQ.

Bi-Lo, LLC

Distribution + Retail | 4,600 employees

There are eight Bi-Los in Greenville alone, plus many others scattered across the rest of the Upstate.

Bon Secours St. Francis Health System

Health Services | 4,355 employees

Turbine + Turbine Generator Sets | 3,400 employees

According to their website, the Greenville GE plant is the largest + most powerful off-grid gas turbine validation facility across the globe.

Duke Energy Corp.

Utility Provider | 3,300 employees

One of the country’s largest energy holding companies, Duke Energy serves 7.6 million customers across the U.S., and 2.5 million of those are in the Carolinas.

Greenville County Government

Local Government | 2,685 employees

Greenville County Government is made up of many departments – from Animal Care; Parks, Recreation + Tourism; Emergency Management; Election Commission + more.

State of South Carolina

Another engineering powerhouse, Fluor Corporation is headquartered in Texas but has strong roots here in Greenville. Our Minor League Baseball team, the Greenville Drive, has their stadium named after them – Fluor Field.
