Whether you’re into bass fishing or not, you’ll have a chance today to reel in a big ol’ free concert to kickstart start your weekend.

That’s right, Jason Aldean announced yesterday that he would be playing a surprise, first-come-first-serve concert at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena today to kick-off the 2018 Bassmaster Classic.

So here’s what you need to know today, whether you’re trying to get into the concert or trying to avoid the traffic.

Concert Details

The doors open for the Bassmaster Classic weigh-in event at 3:15 p.m. which is when everyone will be permitted into The Well. Jason Aldean will actually perform at 7:30 p.m.

Pro tip: Don’t forget your clear bags. For guidelines on what is allowed inside the arena, check here.

Where to park

The City of Greenville has over 8,000 available spots downtown (a guide for which can all be found here), but you may want to think about an alternative option due to the number of people that will be parked downtown for work.

Haywood Mall is always an option that allows you free parking and provides a super cheap Uber/Lyft ride into downtown.

You could also give Cleveland Park (by the Zoo) a try and walk up Washington Street towards The Well.

Don’t forget that if you can’t find parking right by the arena, you can park elsewhere downtown, take the trolley up to Elford Street and then walk to The Well. Click here for a a trolley route map.

How to avoid traffic

Any and all roads near Bon Secours Wellness Arena will be tough to get through today. 5 O’clock traffic is typically bad enough on Academy Street but with the additional event, anytime after lunch is probably going to be a mess.

We suggest taking alternate routes home or trying to head home between 3:15 – 5 p.m. when everyone is inside The Well enjoying the concert.

If you work downtown, try heading out of downtown via Cleveland Street, connect to S. Pleasantburg and Laurens Road. It’s a round-about way but it might save you time (and a serious headache).

What are your chances of getting in?

The Well has a capacity of 15,951, so chances are that if you show up early, you’ve got a decent chance of at least getting in.

How long you’ll have to wait outside and how long it will take to get inside is the real question at hand, but ya’ll have fun with that. But it’s going to be super nice outside so at least you’ll get some spring vibes while you wait.
