Remember a few years ago when Magnolia Park (off Woodruff Rd.) was expected to get a brand new Toby Keith “I Love this Bar” restaurant? If this is your first time hearing about it, the restaurant was supposed to be built right next to the movie theatre where Wild Wings sits now.

Now that you’re up to speed, let’s get to the juicy stuff.

  • 1999: An ex New York Mafia member named Frank Capri was placed into the witness protection program. He then created a company called Capri’s Boomtown Entertainment LLC that among other projects, created Toby Keith restaurants around the country.
  • 2014: His company announced the opening for a brand new Toby Keith restaurant right here in Greenville.
  • 2015: Construction stopped, yet the company continued to boast that Greenville was its next up and coming location.

Spoiler alert: It never happened, and promises of a Toby Keith restaurant in 19 other cities fell through as well. Turns out Frank was actually taking millions of dollars from mall owners to get things started on these facilities and then never followed through, leading to lawsuits and liens all over the place (which is what happened in Greenville).

Long story short, we may never have a Toby Keith bar, but shoutout to Wild Wings for stepping in and not leaving the place vacant.
