Remember when we told you about Greenville Triumph’s new women’s team needing a name in September?
Well, you were asked to make recommendations and GVL, you did not disappoint.
After receiving nearly 300 submissions this fall, the Greenville Triumph has narrowed in on five possible names for the new USL W League women’s soccer team:
- Ascent
- Glory
- Liberty
- Spark
- Wrens
“The ideas were an honest reflection of how proud people are to be part of the Greenville and Upstate communities,” said Doug Erwin, Vice Chairman and Chief Brand Officer.
Now, it’s up to you. It’s time to vote on what you believe should be the new team name through Dec. 17.
The new team name, crest + colors will be announced in early 2022, and the team is set to compete in the league at the beginning of spring. Tickets for the women’s 2022 season can be purchased here . ⚽
Welcome, Julie Carlson
Exciting news from Greenville Triumph SC . On Dec. 9, the soccer program announced that Julie Carlson has been named head coach + technical director for Greenville’s new USL W League women’s soccer program. 👏

Julie has an extensive history with the game in and out of the Upstate, serving as head coach of Anderson University’s women’s soccer program, as director of operations and volunteer assistant coach at Clemson University, and as the founder + head coach of the first women’s soccer program at the Virginia Military Institute.
