We know y’all are on the edge of your seats wondering how our GVLcupid blind date matchups went.

Backstory: In honor of the month of love, our team wanted to have a little fun and play cupid. We asked y’all to send Greenville’s most eligible bachelors + bachelorettes our way with basic details + why they should be picked for a blind date matchup.

After sorting through ~100 applicants (ages 20-58), we channeled our inner matchmakers and paired up three couples based on interests + compatibility – then sent them out on a blind date for dinner, games, or a movie, courtesy of Magnolia Park, during Valentine’s Week.

How did the dates go, you ask? After each bachelor + bachelorette agreed to go on the blind date (because several were submitted by a friend vs. themselves), they also agreed to follow it up with a short Q+A that we could share with you.

The pairs:

🌹 Ron + Tammie | Date: Dave & Buster’s

🌹 Faith + Daniel | Date: Tin Lizzy’s

🌹 Neal + Callie | Date: Regal Cinema

Here are their post-date Q+As:

After the date, we asked them to take a survey. Here’s what two (of three) pairs said:

Did you Google your date before meeting? If so, would you admit that to him/her?

Ron: “I tried but I wasn’t able to find anything”

Tammie: “Yes, but I couldn’t find him”

Faith: “Yes. I wanted to be able to recognize him! Probably would not admit that I creeped.”

Daniel: “No, I didn’t. I wanted to make it as much of a blind date as possible.”

Callie: “Yes and Yes”

Neal: n/a

What was your first impression of your date?

Ron: “She was not what I had been imagining the entire day leading up to the date. She was a nice looking girl.”

Tara: “Different than I expected, but decent.”

Faith: “He was really nice, and totally down for the experience right off the bat, which I appreciated.”

Daniel: “My first thought was how pretty she looked! When I got to talk to her, she impressed me with her ambitious and funny personality.”

Callie: “Very mysterious”

Neal: n/a

Did your date use a pick-up line?

Ron: “No.”

Tammie: “No, thank God! That probably would have been the last, if so.”

Tay: “Yes, to show off his cheesy pick-up skills.”

Daniel: “No, she didn’t.”

Callie: “No, he was more the strong silent type.”

Neal: n/a

Describe your date in only 3 words:

Ron: “Open, chill, fun.”

Tammie: “Smart, fun, open.”

Faith: “Sweet, funny, easy-going”

Daniel: “Caring, cheerful, adventurous.”

Callie: “Short and sweet?”

Neal: n/a

How would you rate the date on a 1 - 5 scale?

Ron: “3 because I had fun but I didn’t feel a strong connection to her.”

Tammie: “5, we had conversation naturally. There wasn’t any awkward quiet and we had a blast. It’s highly likely there will be a second date.”

Faith: “5! I went in not knowing what to expect, and I ended up having a great time! The location was fun, the food was awesome, and the match was great!”

Daniel: “5 because she is a caring person, is ambitious about what she does, and there was really never a dull moment. We had so much in common, and was able to joke about each other. I didn’t really want the date to end.”

Have you ever been on a blind date? If yes, do you have pre-blind date ritual?

Ron: “Not at all. I am not a fan.”

Tammie: “This is my first blind date andI ’m glad I took a chance.”

Faith: “Yes I have. I usually spend a little time scrolling through my date’s social media, just to make sure they’re not an axe murderer. I like to wear something cute, but casual, and I listen to fun music on the ride there.”

Daniel: “Yes, but I’ve only been on one other blind date so there is no ritual.”

Callie: “No, but maybe I should have a ritual for luck.”

Neal: n/a

What happened at the end of the date - did you exchange numbers? Go anywhere together afterward?

Ron: “We exchanged numbers but we left it at that.”

Tammie: “We exchanged numbers and called it a night. We ended after 10 p.m.”

Faith: “We exchanged numbers, and made plans to hang out again!”

Daniel: “I felt like we could keep on talking. We did exchange numbers, but wasn’t able to anywhere afterward because of other obligations.”

Callie: “No, I made plans to meet a friend next door at Wild Wing.”

Neal: n/a

Would you say you had chemistry? How did yall get along?

Ron: “We had a friendly chemistry but that was it.”

Tammie: “We got along great, I can’t say if we will advance further romantically, we will just have to see.”

Faith: “He had a great sense of humor, and we spent the night laughing and telling stories. I really enjoyed getting to know him a bit!”

Daniel: “Yes we did! We both love God, family, and food! We just kept talking and completely forgot about ordering. It honestly took us about 30 min until we even looked at the menu. I felt so bad for the waitress that kept checking on us.”

Callie: “Me and my friend? Yeah, I guess you could say we have chemistry.. she hangs out with me more often than most people would.”

Neal: n/a

Leading up to the date, did you have second thoughts or were you especially nervous?

Ron: “I did have second thoughts and I was kind of hoping she wouldn’t show so that I’d be off the hook had I left lol, that’s how nervous I was.”

Tammie: “I was a little nervous, but they were good butterflies.”

Faith: “I looked forward to the date! Blind dates are fun because you don’t know what to expect.

Daniel: “I was nervous, just because I didn’t know anything, but her name. Thinking back I get why I was nervous, but I shouldn’t have been that nervous.”

Callie: “Yes, but he was great and made it feel like I wasn’t even on a first date.”

Neal: n/a

How many drinks did you have (if any)?

Ron: “Just one”

Tammie: “I had one drink”

Faith: “Lots of water.”

Daniel: “We actually only had water. Really didn’t even think about our drinks, and focused more on food.”

Callie: “None, I waited until after so I could spill the details of the date to my friend over cocktails.”

Neal: n/a
