This GVLtoday was written in partnership with Fall for Greenville.

Friday was the first day of fall, but the season hasn’t really started until BB&T Fall For Greenville presented by Pepsi (sponsor love) kicks off in just over two weeks.

On top of being our premiere festival (going into its 36th year), it is also a driving economic force behind many nonprofits. FFGVL is a not-for-profit festival, organized by a Board of Directors + the City of Greenville.

Over 50+ community partners + sponsorships help keep the festival free, and its costs low (making it accessible to all). Did you know: Event proceeds go back to local non-profit beneficiaries?

Every spring, the Fall for Greenville Board of Directors selects local beneficiaries to receive a portion of the annual proceeds, in return for their organization’s volunteer hours. Over 1,800+ volunteers sell Taste Tickets, serve food, pour beer, and generally keep the event running during the 3-day event.

These volunteer hours = $$$ for non-profits. So, groups will volunteer together for their organization, or individuals can volunteer (hint, hint) and select a beneficiary to have their hours count towards. You cansign up to be a volunteer up until and even during the event.

In 2016, Fall for Greenville donated $39,000 to local organizations. In past 10 years, they’ve given over $500,000.

2017 beneficiaries:

What’s new this year? A group of volunteer translators will be on site to help break communication barriers. 12+ languages are represented, including Spanish, French, German, Mandarin and so many more. Look for their identifying pins on site + thank them!
