Good morning, GVLtoday readers. In case we haven’t said it lately: We’re grateful for you, and we’re grateful for Greenville. One of the things we love most about GVL is its strong sense of community – which is the basis of the new (first annual) event Gratefull GVL.
It’s a simple concept: A free, city-wide community potluck lunch happening the Monday before Thanksgiving (November 25). All Greenvillians are invited to bring a dish + share a meal with friends + strangers alike at one long table right on S. Main St., as an effort to open up a conversation about diversity and change in our city.
Organized by a committee who cares about overcoming the social, economic, race and class lines that currently divide our city, Gratefull GVL proceeds will benefit outreach efforts organized through Project Host. The event aims to bring people together from all walks of life to get to know each other, build understanding + break down dividing lines.
There are no fees or expectations, just an open invitation. Food will be provided (thanks to in-kind donations + potluck contributions) and served by 200+ volunteers, and attendees are also encouraged to contribute a dish – just make sure it’s in a disposable container.
Can’t make it to Gratefull GVL, but want to be involved? Consider making a donation to feed a friend or family, or snag a commemorative t-shirt.
