Giving Woodruff Rd. a break

Greenville City Council met on Monday to approve the design + construction plans for a new Woodruff Rd. connector that could reduce traffic on the crowded road by more than 20%. The road would be two lanes and half a mile long, stretching from Woodruff Industrial Lane to Verdae Boulevard.

The idea to add an alternate route originally stemmed from Piedmont Natural Gas, which is located behind Target, as a way to get its trucks out in an emergency without having to get on Woodruff Road. The company then asked the city if it would make this a public road, allowing drivers to get to Magnolia Park + Target, Academy Sports, and Trader Joe’s.

Greenville City Council has already designated $400,000 for the project plus made an agreement with Piedmont Natural Gas Company, Hollingsworth Funds, Verdae Properties, and Magnolia Park Greenville to help with funding, design and construction.

Keep an eye on your inbox later this week for another way the City is addressing traffic concerns.
