After sitting mostly vacant for a decade, a multi-use development could be coming soon to the “Baby BI-LO ” site based on conceptual designs .
Sitting at the corner of West Park Avenue and North Main Street, the proposal for Park & Main shows two buildings — one four-story + one six-story.
According to the designs, the development features:
- 16,000+ sqft of retail space
- 300 residential units
- 400 parking spaces (25 for retail)
- A plaza + green space
- A bike room
- Other resident amenities to be announced
The old BI-LO at 505 N. Main St. — which was the smallest in the grocery store’s chain at the time — closed in 2013 after 20+ years in business.
In 2014 , there was talk of a locally-owned neighborhood grocery store taking over the space, but it never happened.
Now, the shopping center is mostly vacant, with the No. 1 China restaurant and Unity Health on Main still in business.
