What we learned about you:

You love GVL events (trivia nights, Greenville Little Theater, shows at the Peace Center) and found out about them mostly via word-of-mouth or Facebook. We want to be your go-to for the coolest events that you’re actually interested in so keep us in mind if you see or hear something. We’re just an email away (hello@gvltoday.com).

You’re involved in a lot, GVL. From rec. leagues to the Greenville Homeless Alliance to Women Who Code. You’re doing a ton, and we want to try to cover it all. But we need your help. Keep us in the loop, invite us to everything (we’ll try our best to make it happen), and reach out with info you want others to hear.

You also really love social media. It’s where you get most of your info from, but news outlets are a close second. We consider ourselves a little bit of both. We want to give you the best of both worlds by providing the answers to your questions on a platform that’s easily accessible for you.

What we learned about us:

We need to cover more hard issues: economic mobility, income disparities, challenges the Hispanic community faces, human trafficking, etc. While we don’t consider ourselves a ‘hard news outlet’, we’re an outlet for GVL’s news, and sometimes that news isn’t always fun + games. We’ll try to do a better job at covering those not-so-easy topics so our community is better connected + engaged.

What we’re doing about it:

Y’all mentioned that you love hanging out at Joe’s Place on Williams Street. So last Friday, we made it our office. We set up shop on the second floor, sipped some super great coffee and finished the day on the porch writing Monday’s newsletter. It was the ideal Friday, to say the least.

In the future, we’ll choose from a spot y’all recommended and make it the Friday office. PS: feel free to stop by and chat. We love visitors. 😉

You also want us to cover more real estate + development so we’ve partnered with some local real estate companies to make that happen. We’ll be at more Design Review Board meetings and we’ll try to keep up-to-date on GVL’s latest developments. We recently mentioned a facade improvement on N. Main Street across from NOMA Square and the redevelopment of the Hayne School in the Pettigru Historic District. Know a developer? We’d love to chat with them, so send them our way.

Y’all want us to check out some extracurricular activities that you’re involved in. Thus far, we’ve gone to the annual Hispanic Alliance meeting, we’re looking into becoming Junior League members, we’ve visited local retirement homes (newsletter on that coming soon), we’re learning more about GVL’s cycling scene with Bike Walk GVL + Upstate Transportation Association meetings, and we’re walking through construction sites to get the inside scoop on new constructions.

One last thing...

Most importantly, we enjoyed connecting with you. It’s easy for us to write about things we enjoy, so it’s good to know that sometimes we need to diversify. After all, we’re nothing without you, GVL.
