Connecting students and SEC athletes

Greenville News
Greenville elementary school is partnering with the Southeastern Conference’s Adopt-A-Class initiative to pair local schools with 14 SEC women’s basketball teams ahead of the 2017 SEC Tournament.

Schools like UofSC and Tennessee are conversing through email and video chat to get the students engaged and learning. Sample question: “how many rebounds do I average if I’ve played four years, had over a thousand rebounds, and I’ve played in 120 games?”

The season-long initiative, which lasts from November until the tournament ends, aims to “engage the Upstate, including fans and future athletes.” Thirteen schools were selected, five of which are part of the federal Title I program.
