John Warren, a local entrepreneur, former candidate for Governor, and a soldier in Iraq following the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, has written a book.

Lead Like a Marine: Run Towards a Challenge, Assemble Your Fireteam, and Win Your Next Battle” focuses on his experience, the struggles of returning home, and how he used these lessons to build multiple companies in the Upstate.

Currently the CEO of GEM Mining, a privately held, institutional-grade Bitcoin (BTC) mining company, John served four years of active duty as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps beginning in 2006. He was decorated for valor and heroic achievement after leading 300+ combat missions.
