It’s time to get back into the kitchen and these darlings will make you want to shop for and cook with (possibly) something new. Locally grown Sweet Dumpling Squash is available at our favorite grocery stop, Swamp Rabbit Café & Grocery. I am even tempted to fill a bowl on my table with them just for décor.

But, don’t skip out on the opportunity to eat these gorgeous bi-colored gems. Replace Sweep Dumplings in any recipe that calls for Butternut Squash and because they are smaller they are so much easier to handle. To be extra basic, simply slice them in half and place them cut side down on a greased baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes at 375 degrees, flip ‘em over, season well with salt and a little pepper, add a slice of butter and bake an additional 10 minutes. Yep, you’re welcome. How very local seasonal of you.
