When you find yourself in Cola, DO NOT MISS a meal at The Southern Belly BBQ (on Harden St in Five Points). A host of inventive, competition-quality BBQ sandwiches shine brightly on this menu.

My current fav is the King Kahuna described as “Luau barbecue topped with pineapple, grilled Maui onions, cheddar, applewood bacon on a buttered french roll, with Yum Yum BBQ Sauce.”

The sammy is savory, smoky, sweet and complex with all the textures at play. The vibe at Southern Belly is chill and the barbeque is legit, all slow cooked over wood smoke.

And, if you want to take a stab at your own BBQ sandwich creation, Southern Belly offers seven sauces, seven toppings, five cheese options and three bread choices so go hog wild (I couldn’t help myself).
