Greenville’s Roper Mountain Science Center is investing $9 million into a brand new 24,000-square-foot environmental science facility that plans to open in 2022. The two-story facility will be located next to the Harrison Hall of Natural Sciences and plans to include several interactive museum exhibits that highlight various topics related to sustainability, like clean energy and an interactive exhibit that demonstrates how kinetic flooring generates power.

Director of the science center, Michael Weeks feels a facility such as this is critical right now for the sustainability in

getting students interested in considering science for a career.
