Affordable college is better for everyone

Heather here: When I was in school (paying in-state tuition at Old Dominion University), it didn’t feel expensive. When I graduated and saw all the student loans to pay back, it kinda hit me. But college is SO expensive now – at least according to a lot of parents, college faculty + administrators who voiced their concerns to The South Carolina Commission for Higher Education at a higher education town hall last week.

Since these issues with college affordability are statewide, The South Carolina Commission for Higher Education decided to do something about it...or continue to lose students to other states.

So what’s being done? SC CORE, a program that looks to provide a way for students to pursue higher education at a lower price, will launch a pilot test program in fall 2018.

Keeping students in S.C. means keeping future workers in S.C., which means a boost for our economy.
