One of three façades that will make up the exterior.

The City of Greenville Design Review Board Urban Panel unanimously approved the proposed exterior renovation designs for 2 N. Main St. (at the corner of Main and Washington Streets).

The space — formerly a JCPenney in the 1940’s and ChartSpan in the 2010’s — houses Main Street Labs , a “biotech hub” for medical companies, like KIYATEC (a clinical stage cancer diagnostics company and the first tenant). Main Street Labs will also feature a retail shop + 100,000 sqft of lab space for future tenants.

The renovation of the entire exterior will be carried out in three sections — with the end result having the appearance of three different façades to break down the building’s scale to compliment smaller surrounding buildings.

You may be wondering, “What about Millie, the Mice on Main mouse in front of this building?” Don’t worry. Millie will be removed during construction for a “vacation.”
