A study done by University of South Carolina’s Darla School of Business showed that in 2011, USC Upstate contributed a $388M+ economic impact to the state of South Carolina. Now, after a more recent study, it seems that number is up 30% to $506M (wow, is right).

USC currently has eight campuses (Columbia, Upstate, Aiken, Beaufort, Lancaster, Salkehatchie, Sumter, and Union) and it turns out that the USC’s campus just right up the road in Spartanburg had the second-highest economic impact in the state behind Columbia ($4.16B).

In 2017, the university’s contribution to wages and salaries stood at $161.9 million, and the total number of jobs (associated with the measured economic activities) was 4,996.

Long story short, USC Upstate is crushing it.
