$1.4 Million worth of fraud against Michelin

Greenville Journal

Yesterday, a Texas woman pleaded guilty to stealing $1.4 million from Michelin here in Greenville. Yes, you heard that correctly. How? Theresa Lopez Santos was in charge of billing for Vehicle Testing Services who helps test tires for Michelin.

Michelin found some discrepancies in their bills back in 2014 and launched an investigation which eventually involved the FBI. Fast forward to today, where Theresa Lopez Santos could be charged with 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for each count of fraud (she plead guilty to three counts).

To make the story even more intriguing, it turns out that all of the money stolen was put back into the business she worked for (VTS) to keep it from going out of business.
