Would a high-speed rail benefit the Upstate?

GoUpstate
We know that fixing the roads in our area is the priority right now but what about the future of transportation? Not just local transportation in the Upstate, but a high-speed train line running from Atlanta to Charlotte that goes through Greenville and Spartanburg is being studied.

“A strong case has to be made why this is needed, and the benefits it would bring to South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia,” said Spartanburg County Councilman and chairman of council’s economic development committee.

Is it possible that we are the reason this new form of transportation is taking so long to implement? Spartanburg railroad and history buff, Donald Moss believes the idea of a high-speed rail hasn’t progressed yet is because most people are still too attached to cars.
