Southern comfort food meets a European pub. That’s what’s on the menu at Perch (1501-101 E. North St.), a new gastropub opening Wed., Oct. 26 in Overbrook, right next to Mr. Crisp.

We got a sneak peek at the food, the drinks + the vibe, and spoiler alert: We’ll be back for more.

The vibe

You’ll notice a dark, cozy ambiance when you walk in the door, but look closer. The details on the walls and shelves bring character to the pub. You’ll find pieces from the collections of the people who made Perch possible, plus trinkets from travels + antique finds from across the Carolinas.

The food

We got a taste of the Donër Kebab — featuring seasoned ground lamb and beef on a fresh house-made pita with tzatziki sauce + tomato salad — and the Haluski — a Polish dish with egg noodles and fried cabbage, but with a Southern twist: Bacon + goat cheese).

The drinks

DYK: Perch is owned by the same family that brought Birds Fly South Ale Project to Greenville? Not only will they rotate BFS beers on tap, but they’ll also brew a new offering in-house. Whatever brew you choose will come in a unique stein or a beer boot.

Looking for something stronger? We also sipped on the Gold Rush, featuring Four Roses bourbon, Domaine de Canton, lemon juice, and house aromatic bitters. It’s just one of the many cocktails you have to look forward to when Perch opens soon.

Reservations are strongly recommended and will open for booking Sat., Oct. 22. Keep an eye on Perch’s Instagram for updates..
