A Bolden change to Laurens Road

The Bolden Street District, coming soon to Laurens Road, is expected to break ground late this summer. It could be 10 to 15 years before the entire project is complete, with it taking place in several phases.
Developers say it’s “ideally situated” along the Swamp Rabbit Trail. | Map by The Bolden Street District
The 90 acres east of the Laurens Road corridor — from Haywood Road past Verdae Commons Drive — aims to be a “vibrant, connected, and pedestrian-oriented destination.” The project will create a walkable district featuring homes and apartments, retail shops, offices, green spaces, and improved connectivity to the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail — with 1.5 miles of the trail fronting the land.

The developers (Verdae Development Inc., a subsidiary of Hollingsworth Funds) say they’re already hearing from restaurants, grocery stores, offices, and development partners that want to be a part of the project.

Feel Good Friday
Amur leopards Basha and Irina were introduced at the Greenville Zoo for the first time, with hopes of cubs in the future. “With only 100 Amur leopards left in the wild and around 200 in zoos worldwide, successful breeding pairs are essential to protecting the world’s most endangered big cat,” the zoo explains.

“Each one is an experience, not just a casual bite.” That’s how Southern Living described Local Cue’s wings in its article “The 20 Best Spots For Chicken Wings In The South.” The beloved sports bar off Haywood Road was the only South Carolina spot to land on the list.
Two weeks away: Ice Fest Weekend 2026. Festivities include spectacular ice sculptures, glimmering garden displays, skating, games, gifts, food, fun, and snow much more. Peek the packed schedule.*

“Your investment will help us expand our brewing capacity, improve production efficiency, and elevate our taproom experience to better serve our community,” they said.
The new space also gives the brewery space to experiment with new beer styles and increase its regional presence.
Local Cue is my favorite spot for wings, and the recognition from Southern Living is well-deserved. I especially love the robust gluten-free menu the restaurant offers, with bar food favorites that gluten-free eaters often can’t find elsewhere.
