News Notes

Announced

The public meeting originally scheduled for tonight to discuss the Inn at Altamont — the proposed luxury hotel on Paris Mountain — has been postponed. According to the developers of the property, the meeting will be rescheduled once it finds a space large enough to accommodate the expected attendees. (Greenville Journal)

Weather

Grab your umbrellas. Tomorrow and Wednesday, we could see heavy rains with a potential for localized flooding. Keep your eye on the radar and stay safe. (FOX Carolina)

Outdoors

If your favorite SC State Park still isn’t fully open after Helene, consider reaching out to the park manager to see if you can volunteer. Mountain Regional Chief for the SC State Park Service Adin Fell said, “This work is not so much monetary — it’s people.” (Upstate Business Journal)

Mansion Monday

Picture this: A four bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom, ~6,400 sqft home with a wine cooler, a custom organizer closet system, and an elevator, just blocks from Main Street. Too good to be true? We don’t think so.

Plan Ahead

Mark your calendars for Monday, Feb. 17 because Fork and Plough is hosting its annual Someone Special Dinner in partnership with the South Carolina Children’s Theatre. Make a reservation for you and your young ones at this “Alice in Wonderland” dinner with special guests from SCCT’s show “Alice.”

Pets

You know a great cure for winter blues? Fostering an animal. Greenville County Animal Care is in need of foster (or adoptive) paw-rents for nine dogs and seven cats, among others. We dare you to take a look at their sweet faces and not scoop one up.

Asked

We have to know where we’ve been to know where we’re going. Here’s the deal: We want to know your favorite spots in Greenville. Once we have our list, we’ll do some research and write a story about what was in its spot 10 years ago. We can’t promise we’ll get to everyone’s, but we’ll do our best.

Eat

We love the ease of this homemade chili — it’s hearty, comforting, and an almost guaranteed crowd-pleaser. Pro tip: You can swap out the ground beef for ground turkey to make the meal a bit healthier. Snag the recipe.*
