We have some amazing restaurants in our city, and we love highlighting new culinary gems at GVLtoday. But there have also been so many great, local restaurants that have closed over the and sometimes, we get a little hankering for a meal from a place that no longer exists.
We asked you about the spots that would be your go-to choices for dining out if they were still around.
Bird’s Fly South
This brewery + staple tenant of Hampton Station’s closure is still an open wound for many Greenvillians. If you don’t believe us, check out the comments on one of our recent Instagram posts.
Southern Culture
Known for its Sunday brunch, Southern Culture was a mix of southern cuisine with an upscale vibe. Remember the time Chris Pratt stopped by?

It’s all Greek to me. Greek + Italian restaurant Kouzina Pizza & Gyro is now open in the former Habitap space on Woodruff Road. Dine on gyros (it’s in the name, after all), hand-tossed pizzas, and pastas while you sit indoors or eat al fresco. (Upstate Business Journal)

Table 301 by any other name would smell as sweet. Table 301 Restaurant Group — celebrating 27 years this month — is changing its name to Table 301 Hospitality. Concert
Holiday at Peace — an annual concert from the Greenville Symphony Orchestra — returns to the Peace Center on Friday, Dec. 6 to Sunday, Dec. 8. Kick off your holiday season with local, live music — make sure to purchase tickets early as they tend to sell out quickly.

What are you grateful for?
There’s a lot to be Gratefull for in this photo. | Photo by Gratefull GVL
After a whirlwind year, Gratefull GVL is asking you what you’re grateful for this year. We’ll share your answers with them so we can spread the love.
What + when is Gratefull GVL?
Gratefull GVL — a free, city-wide community potluck lunch — is returning to the Main Street Bridge on Monday, Nov. 25. The lunch — which first took place in 2019 — will serve Greenvillians from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at one long table in the heart of our downtown.
Fun fact: 3,000+ people attended the original event and120+ businesses, organizations, and restaurants contributed to the buffet.
The goal (beyond having a delicious meal) is to encourage open conversations about diversity + change in our city. The event was a hit in 2019, took place again in 2020, and this will be the first Gratefull GVL potluck since then.
I want to give a huge “thank you” to everyone who was able to vote early. You made it incredibly easy for those of us (like me) who weren’t able to hit the polls until Election Day.
